What are neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators such as Botox® and Dysport® are prescription medications used to temporarily relax targeted facial muscles, helping to soften the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles.

Who performs my neuromodulator treatment?

Neuromodulator treatments are administered by a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practicing within CLPNS standards of practice, clinic policies, and approved medical directives.

Is a physician involved in my care?

Yes. All neuromodulator treatments are provided under the medical oversight of a licensed physician Medical Director. The physician authorizes treatment, approves dosing, and is available for consultation as required.

How is the dose determined?

Neuromodulator dosing is physician-approved and based on:

Individual assessment findings
Treatment area(s)
Muscle strength and activity
Safety guidelines and clinic protocols

Dosing is administered only within approved parameters and within the LPN’s authorized scope of practice.

Is this within the LPN scope of practice?

Yes. Neuromodulator administration is performed by the LPN in accordance with CLPNS scope of practice, clinic policies, and physician authorization. LPNs do not independently prescribe neuromodulators.

Will I be assessed before treatment?

Yes. Prior to treatment, you will receive a comprehensive assessment, including:

Health history review
Contraindication screening
Facial assessment at rest and with movement
Review of risks, benefits, and expected outcomes

Treatment proceeds only if it is deemed appropriate.

Do I need lab work before neuromodulator treatment?

No. Routine laboratory testing is not required for neuromodulator treatments. However, treatment suitability is determined through clinical assessment and physician oversight.

What should I expect during the treatment?

The procedure involves small injections into targeted muscles. Most clients describe minimal discomfort. Treatment typically takes 10–20 minutes.

What aftercare is required?

You will receive written post-treatment instructions, which may include:

Avoid rubbing or massaging treated areas
Remaining upright for several hours
Avoiding strenuous activity for 24 hours

Full results develop over 3–14 days.

What if I have concerns or side effects?

You will be provided with aftercare guidance and contact information. Any concerns or unexpected reactions are managed in collaboration with the physician Medical Director.
